Year 2 is the year in which children develop rapidly, both academically and in terms of their independence. This independence is encourage in daily routines and homework.
In History, we learn about the developments in medicine through the life of Florence Nightingale. Children also have a wonderful day travelling back in time with Florence Nightingale to find out more about her life and work during the Crimean War. We study the events of the Great Fire of London and look for evidence to find out about the past.
In Design and Technology, we investigate vehicles and then design and make our own with moving wheels and parts. We work in groups to act out a puppet show using puppets we have designed and made ourselves. For Science, we learn about plants using the school grounds and allotment to carry out practical work.
We also begin to play recorders and learn about rhythm in Music lessons.
