Welcome back to the new school term.  We hope you all had time to relax and enjoy the Summer holiday.

This term we have lots of new topics to look forward to and hopefully we will be able to take more of our learning outside while the weather stays pleasant.  We hope the year together will be filled with lots of positive moments and fun learning experiences!

Year 2 is the year in which children develop academically and become more established independent learners. This independence is encouraged in daily routines and by following the continuous provision style of learning.

Year 2 has an expansive curriculum where we will explore many different topics including:

In History, we learn about the events of the Great Fire of London and look for evidence to find out about the past.

RE begins with thinking about how festivals celebrate the natural world.

In Design and Technology we will be creating pouches, learning how to use templates and simple stitches

In Science this year we will be joining with Year 1 to investigate properties and uses of everyday materials.

In Music we will be learning about call and response, with a focus on animals. We shall also be learning exciting new songs for the Year 2 Nativity.

The complete overview for Autumn is attached below, as is the Autumn welcome letter.

PE days are Thursday and Friday for the Autumn term.  Reading books will be changed every Monday, as will Library books, but please bring the reading folders in every day so that we can read with the children whenever possible.

This year our class governor is Mrs Laura Forwood.
