Welcome Firecrests!
Welcome to our Year 5 class page! We are looking forward to an exciting year filled with great opportunities, memorable experiences and lots of new discoveries. We can't wait to work together and make this a fun, successful and memorable year! We are really looking forward to being back in the classroom after the summer break and are excited to see you all continue to grow in strength, wisdom, and faith as you take on new challenges, learning and experiences.
Let’s make this term a great one!
This page will keep you updated with important information and homework. Please read through it carefully.
Class Information:
PE
PE will take place on a Monday and Thursday.
Home Learning Expectations
Reading: Children are expected to read 4 times a week. Please ensure this is logged in their Reading Record Books each time and the reading book and record book are in school every day.
Times Tables: Children are expected to be on Times Tables Rock Stars (TTRS) for 30 minutes per week as a minimum. Times Tables are a fundamental part of maths and we would like to emphasise how important it is that this is supported at home.
Spellings: Children choose 6 spellings and practise using an activity from the activity grid.
Children are expected to practise their spellings on a daily basis. The spellings to practise each week are below on this page.
Equipment in school:
If you are able to supply a pencil case with basic equipment such as pencils, glue stick, colouring pencils etc, then that would be greatly appreciated. We only require one small pencil case that will fit in the school drawer. Please bring in a book from home to read in class. Please ensure water bottles are in school every day.
Glue sticks run out very quickly, so please ensure your child has their own glue stick that is labelled.
