In Reception class, through interactive learning, we explore the key skills in the seven areas of learning – Personal, Social and Emotional; Physical; Communication and Language; Literacy; Expressive Arts and Design; Understanding the World and Mathematics. These skills, experiences and learning opportunities are presented to the children through meaningful play contexts and adult led activities which ensure that each child has the opportunity to play and explore in an active and engaging environment, both inside and out, that allows them to be creative, think critically and take risks to achieve more.
The themes we cover are based on the children’s interests and have included Food; Divali; Fireworks; Cold Lands; Ice and Snow; Chinese New Year; Growth; Minibeasts; Pirates; The Seaside and Journeys.
We enjoy pursuing our Early Years Curriculum beyond the school environment and past trips have included visiting Tesco in Loudwater, Norden Farm in Maidenhead, Waddesdon Manor, Mop End and the Cotswold Wildlife Park.
Cookery and Gardening are always popular in Reception. We have fun planting a wide variety of vegetables in our school allotment and sharing the recipes we have tried.
Below are our termly letters giving information on activities throughout the term. You may also find some photographs of events that have taken place.
Thank you for attending our second Growth Mindset Open Day on 27th June.

Those who attended the drug awareness evening at school on Thursday 22nd June found it both engaging and moving.
