Welcome to Year 3!
Wow! You are now in KS2!
Year three is a special year in which children for the first time get to experience what life was like in the Stone Age. They get to visit the Chiltern Open Air Museum where the Stone Age workshop involves them in lighting fires, covering temporary dome structures; handling replica Mesolithic tools and objects and more. Children really do take something away from this experience.
During the RE topics, children get to visit a Hindu and Sikh temple (Mandir and Gurdwara) where they learn about all the festivals and differences in beliefs; they are taken on a tour around the buildings. The Sikh temple we visit is the largest Gurdwara outside India and I must say both children and adults are amazed by the size and beautiful detail to the building. It is a fantastic experience where you can learn so much about other religions!
These are just some of the fun things we do in year 3; we also learn the recorder and perform a piece of music to the school and our Ancient Egypt topic is quite impressive!
Thank you for attending our second Growth Mindset Open Day on 27th June.
The leaflet below was given to parents on the day and is useful for supporting children in their learning.
Those who attended the drug awareness evening at school on Thursday 22nd June found it both engaging and moving.
The speaker, Elizabeth Burton-Phillips MBE, founded the Wycombe-based charity DrugFam following the loss of her son to addiction.
The charity supports families affected by drug and alcohol addition. For more information visit http://drugfam.co.uk
